Legacy Advocacy Fund (LAF):

Mission: The AAUW Legal Advocacy Fund provides funding and a support system for individuals seeking judicial redress for sex discrimination in education.
The legal Advocacy Fund is celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year. LAF was established by visionary AAUW members from the Ithaca, New York Branch who put the American Association of University Women’s mission into action. Throughout the past 25 years LAF has assisted more than 100 plaintiffs and provided 1.3 million dollars in support of cases affecting equity in education for women and girls.
Visit www.aauw.org/laf for more information on the Legal Advocacy Fund.

Local Scholarships:

The local scholarship committee raises funds to provide transfer scholarships to selected West Valley College women who are majoring in math, science, technology, engineering or related (STEM) fields, and plan to transfer to a four-year college or university. The scholarship awards vary from $1,000 to $1,500 and are paid when the students register at their chosen college or university. Communication is done by e-mail, with a meeting in person in early spring to select the recipients. Usually two are chosen, and are then invited to a spring luncheon where they will be introduced to members of the AAUW Branch.  Donations in support of these young women are always welcome and appreciated. Checks may be written to: ISPF-LosGatos-Saratoga AAUW Local Scholarship Committee.
