1      Thursday     Trail Clean-up. Our AAUW Branch has adopted a section of the Los Gatos Creek trail. After clean-up and clipping take a short hike, back by noon, and stop for coffee or lunch in Los Gatos. Meet promptly! 9:00 A.M. Los Gatos, in Free parking-Northside lot, behind Starbucks. Questions? 2      Friday           Travel—Armchair Adventures. Road Trip. Saratoga, CA to Saratoga WY. Presented by Rachel Hunter. We’ll visit six western states: California, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, South Dakota, and Nebraska with scenery, wildlife, hikes and trails, mountains, canyons, weather, and sites of the road.  We will see famous parks, such as Yellowstone, Zion, and Mt. Rushmore, as well as equally interesting, but lesser known locations such as the Crazy Horse Monument, Toadstool National Geological Monument, Snow Canyon, and the best rest-stop in the West. Guests are always welcome, and if you’d like to bring some cookies to share, they are welcome too. We look forward to seeing you Friday night – TRAVEL NIGHT!

2      Friday           Travel –ArmchairAdventures. Visit to Singapore, Nepal and India. Presented by George and Tamar Mednick. Singapore, with the melding cultures of Indonesia, China and India, serves as the bookends of an Asian adventure. We then venture to the high altitudes of Nepal exploring the exotic sights of Katmandu, and next trek the Annapurna Sanctuary Trail to Annapurna base camp. Afterwards we tour the mysterious secrets of incredible India. The people, world heritage sites and natural wonders will be presented through the insightful photography of Tamar Mednick.i

14   Wednesday – Women and World War I.  2:00p.m. at the Saratoga retirement center.  Dr. Bonnie Morris, of Stanford will be presenting the program. Parking is limited so please carpool.  Please refer to the attached flyer.

6     Friday  Armchair Adventures.  70th Visit to Serengeti – Presented by Doug Cheeseman.   You will note that we will be welcoming back Doug Cheeseman who will be presenting a program on Tanzania, one of his favorite places in the world.    “The Serengeti and surrounding eco- system are my favorite for all wildlife areas in the world for wildlife and photography.  The predator population, such as cheetah, leopard, hyena, wild dogs, lions, etc., is amazing.  It is the glory of the Pleistocene.  Love IT and can hardly wait to go back for our 70PLUS trip this February when Gail and I will be spending about 32 days there this coming February and March”.
