Why Join Los Gatos-Saratoga AAUW?
We provide great opportunities to make new friends, enjoy diverse branch programs and groups, take action at the local level, network with women of diverse backgrounds, cultures, perspectives and professions, and make a difference in the lives of women and girls.
We Fund Special Projects for Local Women and Girls:
- We send middle school girls to Tech Trek camp for classes and exciting hands-on activities in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) and to learn about careers available in these areas.
- We provide scholarships to women who are transferring from West Valley College to complete their bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields.
- We work on behalf of homeless women and children in Santa Clara County to make a positive impact on their lives.
We Present Programs of General Interest
- “The History of Women’s Suffrage” co-sponsored by the Saratoga Library
- “California Ballot Initiatives Pros and Cons” co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters.
- Every year we “Celebrate Local Authors” and raise money for AAUW’s national fellowships and grants and for our local projects.
We Provide Small Groups for Specific Interests
Small groups allow AAUW members to share common interests and get better acquainted. These include Book Review, Bridge, Conversations in Spanish, Hikes and Walks, Film Buffs, and “Armchair Adventure Travel” program.
If you have any questions or need additional membership information, please call Virginia Turner, branch membership chair, at 408-866-4234 or vaturner@sbcglobal.net.
